Officer Safety

Security personnel must be prepared to assess threats, respond to emergencies, and protect themselves while maintaining professional conduct. This course provides training on identifying potentially violent situations, verbal de-escalation techniques, and self-defense considerations. Participants will also gain an understanding of OSHA regulations, hazardous material safety, and bloodborne pathogen risks. The course emphasizes proper communication, incident documentation, and the use of personal protective equipment to minimize risk and maintain safety in the workplace.

Participants will be provided with an understanding of the following:

Threat Assessment & Response

• Identifying and evaluating potential threats
• Understanding behavior escalation and aggression indicators
• De-escalation techniques and verbal intervention

Personal Safety & Protective Measures

• Situational awareness and workplace safety protocols
• Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Self-defense principles and incident documentation

Bloodborne Pathogens & Hazardous Materials

• Understanding bloodborne disease transmission and prevention
• OSHA compliance and exposure control procedures
• Safe handling of chemical spills and hazardous substances

Emergency Preparedness & Compliance

• Following Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for workplace safety
• Employer responsibilities in safety compliance
• Coordinating with emergency responders during crises
