This 1-hour course trains security officers in fire safety principles and the responsibilities associated with conducting fire watches. Participants will learn how to recognize fire hazards, respond appropriately to fire-related emergencies, and use extinguishers safely. The course also covers when a fire watch is required, how to perform one properly, and documentation standards. These skills are essential for preventing fire outbreaks, supporting emergency procedures, and ensuring compliance with NFPA 101 and OSHA guidelines.
Participants will be provided with an understanding of the following:
Fire Safety Fundamentals
The fire triangle: heat, fuel, and oxygen
Classes of fire (A, B, C, D, K) and appropriate extinguishing agents
PASS method for using fire extinguishers (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)

Identifying fire hazards and removing ignition sources
Safe evacuation procedures and perimeter security
Fire suppression guidelines and personal safety precautions

Definition and purpose of a fire watch
